Almost 2.3m Poles have private health insurance

Dodano: 2018-06-05

At the end of 2017 the number of Poles who have additional health insurance increased by 22%. Currently  2.27m people use private medical services due to their own health insurance, according to the Polish Insurance Association. In 2017 the premium received in this market increased by 18% and amounted to PLN 685 mln.

Experts forecast that the number of insured people will grow. It is connected with decreasing expenses for public health service and its low quality.

“We have observed the rising trend in the private health care sector for years. Despite permanent changes in the public health care system, Poles notice constantly its deficiencies. Society expectations of health services’ quality and availability rise. So in this situation private health policies start to be an attractive alternative for more people”, says Dorota M. Fal, the PIA board advisor.

Health policies are sold as individual or group models. These products are bought by employers for their staff and for people who want to ensure private health care for their relatives.
