During its Annual General Meeting organised in Ghent on 2 June alongside the biennial Congress, AMICE, the Association of Mutual Insurers and Insurance Cooperatives in Europe, elected Grzegorz Buczkowski, a current member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of AMICE as its new President for a term of three years.
At the end of the AGM, Grzegorz Buczkowski said: “It will be a great privilege to lead AMICE at a time when mutuality is taking steps to reclaim its rightful place at the heart of the insurance industry. Since the financial crisis of 2008, our premium and market share have steadily increased, which is a clear proof of our members’ growing trust in the business model of mutual and cooperative insurance. I look forward to working with our members and all stakeholders to ensure that the values of mutuality are appreciated and recognised for their contribution to the lives of our members, to our societies and economies throughout Europe.”
Grzegorz Buczkowski is CEO and member of the management board of the Credit Union Mutual Insurance Society and the Credit Union Life Insurance Society, the insurance companies of the Polish credit union system. He has 25 years’ experience in the Polish financial markets and credit unions, 21 of which in insurance. He has published on insurance and mutuality topics for the United Nations’ International Labour Organization, Bloomberg European Law Journal and Polish Cooperative Research Institute.
Grzegorz Buczkowski has been the AMICE Board member since the creation of the association in 2008 and was also Chair of the Communications working group until 2013 and then Chair of the Promotion Commission.
