Generali plans to buy the assets of the Central European MetLife’s companies. The Italian insurer wants to expand its business through acquisitions in high-growth markets.
The acquired business might be worth more than 2 billion euros. It is concentrated in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania. Currently negotiations between insurers are at the preliminary stage. So the transaction may not happen.
Generali has said that it is willing to enter new countries as one of the top-five players in the market. The insurer seeks opportunities in the CEE region.
