New head for Polish Financial Supervision Authority

Dodano: 2016-10-18

Marek Chrzanowski became the new head of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) on 13 October.

“Prime Minister Beata Szydło has decided that the new head of the KNF […] will be an economist Marek Chrzanowski,” said government spokesman Rafał Bochenek.

Chrzanowski was a former member of the Monetary Policy Council (RPP), and member of the President’s National Development Council.

Chrzanowski served on the rate-setting RPP as a Senate appointee representing the governing Law and Justice (PiS) party. Acting upon his own resignation motion, the Senate recalled Marek Chrzanowski from RPP two weeks ago. Chrzanowski, who for the first time filed a resignation motion in early September but withdrew it on Sept. 20, said his decision was caused by personal reasons.

The previous chairman of KNF, Andrzej Jakubiak, held the position until 12 October, when his five-year term expired.
