Polish drivers no longer have to carry their car registration document and MTPL policy while behind the wheel.
Police who stop a driver will be able to electronically consult the central database to check whether a motorist’s documents are in order. Motorists are still obliged to have their driver’s licence and ID card with them when on the road. They will need a paper registration document when they head for an official check of a vehicle’s roadworthiness. Older cars have to undergo such checks annually.
The change in the law came into force on 1 October 2018.
