Polish insurers increased annual earnings by 8.6% y/y to PLN 1.14 bln in Q1, including an almost 9% increase in the non-life segment to PLN 627.5 mln and 8.2% in the life segment to PLN 508.4 mln, a PIU report shows.
The technical result for the life segment rose by 8% to 734 mln, while in the case of non-life insurers it edged up by 0.8% to 697.8 mln.
Insurers paid out PLN 10.2 bln in claims in Q1. Claims in the life segment declined by 6.7% y/y to PLN 5.1 bln and in the non-life segment they rose by 1.5% y/y to PLN 5.1 bln, including PLN 3.7 bln in motor insurance claims.
Premiums in life insurance declined by 7.8% y/y to 5.2 bln. In the non-life segment premiums increased by 5.1% y/y to 11.1 bln.
