Polish insurers collected PLN 56 bln in premiums last year, up by 1.7%, and paid out PLN 36.6 bln in compensation claims, up 4.6% y/y, the industry chamber PIU (Polish Insurance Association) announced.
Life premiums fell 13.3% y/y to PLN 23.9 bln, while claims declined by 5.6% to PLN 18.3 bln, PIU data showed. Net profit in the segment declined by 26.1% to PLN 2.2 bln.
P&C premiums excluding motor insurance edged up by 1.9% y/y to PLN 14 bln. Motor insurance premiums were up 39.1% y/y to over PLN 11.6 bln.
