Polish senators have made a decision to prepare legal regulations for compensation agencies. Senators want to implement a maximum provision rate for these entities and a prohibition on approaching hospitalized people with offers of compensation.
In 2017 MTPL compensation amounted to PLN 1.33 bln according to the Insurance Guarantee Fund. Currently 80% of submitted claims are serviced by a compensation agency. The firms usually take a high provision for their services.
Senators decided to ensure better protection for agencies’ clients by determination the maximum rates of remuneration which they will receive if they win a case.
Jan Grzegorz Prądzyński, the Polish Insurance Association CEO, said that a good solution is a public register of these firms. Its aim will be to increase the level of supervision over compensation agencies.
