On June 21, the first reading of the bill on the amendment to the Act on compulsory insurance, the Insurance Guarantee Fund and the Polish Motor Insurers’ Bureau was held at the Public Finance Commission.
The bill assumes the introduction of a new Article to the Act. 98b. The provision imposes on the Insurance Guarantee Fund the obligation to satisfy claims for compensation for personal injury under the obligatory MTPL insurance. As well as farmers’ liability insurance, if the guarantee sum is insufficient, up to the amount of the guarantee sum specified in that law.
The new provision of the law is intended to counteract the effects of the exhaustion of the guarantee sum of the insurance contracts concluded in the nineties, when the minimum guarantee amount was many times lower than that currently accepted.
