The Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) has awarded six financial institutions which support alternative dispute resolutions (ADR) and an ambassador of mediations on the financial market.
Prizes were awarded to: PZU SA, Generali TU SA, Vienna Life TU na Życie SA VIG, STU ERGO Hestia SA, Open Life TU Życie SA and Euro Bank SA. Monika Pawłowska was acknowledged as a mediation ambassador. She is a judge in the Regional Court in Warsaw. She takes action to propagate dispute resolutions idea on the financial market.
The official gala was held on 11 May 2018. The competition has been organized since 2014 to disseminate knowledge of ADR and mediations among financial institutions.
During the meeting in the KNF Office two panels were held. Their participants discussed a role of mediations in dispute resolutions and practical issues of mediation, especially its opportunities and challenges.
As lecturers said, financial institutions should be interested in amicable dispute resolutions. They will lose nothing if they bring a case to mediation. A mediation demands a lot of work but it is not expensive in comparison with a court proceeding.
Recently the growth of mediation has been noticed. In 2017 2,950 motions to start a mediation were submitted. This is more by 66% than in 2016. In 1,130 cases both parties agreed to start a mediation (up 56%). 80% of mediations finished by concluding a settlement.
